This is my last article as President . While I am sad to be leaving The Group I am pleased to say Dick Greenbank ZL2TGQ will be stepping into the President’s role. Dick’s co-optation by the Committee was supported at the last General Meeting and I am confident we will be in safe hands.

Information about two important new documents appears in the 9 April 2009 issue of "RSM Newsflash", an online release from Radio Spectrum Management (RSM):
1. A discussion paper on spectrum management in the radio licensing regime. Submissions in response close on 19 May. Please note the format required and the 28 questions for which answers are sought.
2. A technical report that is wide-ranging and which poses many things for thought. This paper should be compulsory study for enthusiastic and technically-inclined radio amateurs!
For your interest and consideration!
Further information can be drawn from the Radio Spectrum Management Website.

Last months meeting at Sladden Park was a great success thanks to John ZL2HD getting the gate keys so we could get to our favourite spot, and Bruce ZL2ABC providing the BBQ and a wind-break (his van) to stop the fresh northerly breeze. We had a great time. We ate. We drank (very lightly). We talked. Some flew kites. One flew a model helicopter. We looked at mobile installations and fibre-optic cable. We flashed up a thermet. One was mucking about in a boat. Others played with bows and arrows. But mostly we ate and talked. It was another great social gathering enjoyed by all.
Happy New Year and welcome back to the Wellington VHF Group. This year promises to be an interesting and exciting time.
