A brief report post our AGM night this last Thursday, with more to follow.
The night was very well attended with seating at a premium. Some notes below...

Firstly with regards to our AGM, congratulations to the following appointments:

President: Brian Fearnley ZL2BRF
Vice President: To Be Advised
Secretary: Mark Foster ZL1VMF
Treasurer: Tom Clark ZL2TDD
Committee: Steve Jepson ZL2KG; David Andrews ZL2SX; Doug Ingham ZL2TAR; Fred Johnson ZL2AMJ; Rick Smith ZL2TVY; Jim Towler ZL1TYF.

Officers of the VHF Group will be confirmed by the Committee at the next Committee Meeting.

Reports from the various office holders were presented and accepted by the meeting. Particular recognition for the efforts of Gavin Cross ZL2TVM, the editor of Q-Bit - our publication has been widely praised and the VHF Group are very appreciative of Gavins efforts as editor.

John Yaldwyn ZL4JY presented a report as Section Leader of AREC, who have been particularly busy this year, with recent AREC training well received by all who were involved. At the AREC AGM John was confirmed as AREC Section leader, with Deputies to be confirmed/advised.

The Examination team reported that we have had 4 students sit the Amateur Exam in the previous 12 months with a 100% pass rate.

ZL2HD, who stood down as President at the AGM, congratulated the branch on its achievments over the past 12 months on behalf of the Amateur Radio community. Inversely, John is recognised by the branch for his work as President.

On completion of the AGM of the Branch and the AREC Section, the General Meeting of the VHF Group was held and this was followed by a very interesting presentation by Stan Swan, covering the remarkable utility of the PICAXE system. We thank Stan for a very interesting show and i'm sure he'll be hearing more from VHF Group members as they start to experiment with the mighty PIC...!
