16 February 2007 - SAREX

WLSAR annual SAREX was held at Rallywoods from Friday 16th to Sunday 18th February 2007. Kapiti AREC provided their caravan to use as a communications centre while the Group's AREC section provided most of the equipment.

Communications was provided as follows:

HF Codan 8528 for 5680/3023 kHz
HF Icom F7000 for missing party / umpire channel

VHF Icom F-110 on SAR ESB repeaters for search teams
VHF Icom F-110 on SAR MS simplex for RNZAF Iroquoi
VHF Icom F-110 for missing party / umpire channel

UHF Motorola handheld radios for use as an intercom around the IMT area

On VHF two portable SAR repeaters were deployed and linked together.
These were located roughly to the west and north of the expected search area.
