APRS Project Bulk Purchase
At the APRS round-table meeting a number of members expressed interest in buying tracker devices, including a suitable GPS. The committee are keen to support this project and are offering to underwrite a bulk purchase of some suitable items.
A number of possible devices were discussed and looked at during the APRS round-table night and the general impression was that the current model of the OpenTracker+ would be most suitable. This device is able to support GPS stations, non-GPS stations, some weather stations and telemetry data, has good configuration software and options, with source code that is available to be modified if required. A null modem is needed to configure the tracker. We will offer a cable null modem if you need this, as well as a cable to get to the back of your desktop PC!
The ADS-GM1 GPS is water proof and has a magnetic back for mounting on a car. We may offer a cheaper unit if this is requested. It requires a DB9 to be soldered on. We have not tested these units so it is buyer beware, but we expect no problems with it.
Pricing: The plan is to charge members at an expected exchange rate and to use any bulk purchase savings to pay for the postage costs. The Group will carry any extra costs if the postage is more than we can cover in this way.

There are four cables on offer, so please check on the website and select which on you require. They are “Common Handheld”, “Icom Handheld”, “Kenwood” and “Yaesu”.
Payments: can be made by Cheque to Wellington VHF Group with the order form or a payment to the bank as described on the back of Q-Bit. Include your call and APRS on the details and email your order as below. Unit will be available at meetings.
