Beacons of the Wellington VHF Group

The Wellington VHF Group run a number of beacons on various frequencies. They serve as a measure of time and distance - to give amateurs an idea of where exactly the signal they are hearing is originating from. Beacons are particularly useful for operators attempting to work 'DX' (distant contacts), as they can provide a bearing for calibration, and an indicator of propagation conditions.

Wellington VHF Group beacons include:

Lower Hutt 32 cm
Hawkins Hill 23cm
Hawkins Hill 70cm
Hawkins Hill 2m
